Step 6: Receiving your Grant
Our Grants
SMCF grants are highly competitive and we do not fully fund all applications
To help organizations achieve their goals, SMCF occasionally offers matching grants and challenge grants.
Our check presentation ceremonies in Grand Ronde are held quarterly.
We will let you know in writing if your grant request was successful or unsuccessful. You are welcome to request feedback on your grant application.
SMCF grants are highly competitive and we do not fully fund all applications. To support the many worthy projects in Oregon we have, in recent years, increased the number of organizations we fund, but have decreased the number of organizations we fully fund.
To help organizations get further funding, our Board of Trustees occasionally offer matching grants or challenge grants. These grants are offered at our discretion. Please do not apply for matching grants or challenge grants.
One or two representatives for your organization must attend the check presentation ceremony in Grand Ronde. These presentations are held quarterly at the Tribal campus in Grand Ronde. This presentation is mandatory unless negotiated otherwise in your grant agreement. See the calendar for dates.
MATCHING GRANTS
If your organization is awarded a Matching Grant, you will have 12 months to raise funds equal to SMCF's grant amount (a 1:1 ratio). Once the matching amount has been raised, contact our Director by e-mail to let us know the matching amount has been raised. We will then release our promised match. After the funding has been realized, your organization will have an additional 12 months to complete the project.
Please see our Matching Grants Policy.
CHALLENGE GRANTS
If your organization is awarded a challenge grant, your organization will have 12 months to raise 90% of the total project budget (include the amount offered by Spirit Mountain Community Fund). When your organization has successfully raised 90%, contact our Director by e-mail to let us know that the challenge has been met. After the funding has been realized, your organization will have an additional 12 months to complete the project.
RECOGNITION
We will discuss recognition of Spirit Mountain Community funding with your organization after you are offered a grant. As a Tribe with an operating business that funds us, community recognition of our partnership is important, but this does not need to be part of your grant application.
