Spirit Mountain Community Fund routinely awards grants that are conditional and classified as a “Matching Grant.” The grantee shall have 12 months from the notice of award to raise the funds. The matching grant funds requirement is for the agency to raise new funds, equal to SMCF’s grant amount.
In-kind contributions shall not be counted towards the match requirement, unless previous arrangements have been made with the Director of SMCF.
When the match amount is raised, the grantee shall have an additional 12 months from the date of receipt of funds to complete the project. To receive funds from SMCF that have been awarded as a matching grant, a written notification (email or letter) to the SMCF Director shall be sent by the grantee stating that the total amount of funds have been secured for the match amount.
In the event that the organization does not meet the fundraising goal within the 12-month matching grant period, an extension may be requested by submitting a brief written request (via email) to the SMCF Director at least 30 days prior to the end of the matching grant period.
If the match is not raised, and no extension is requested or granted, SMCF may decline the grant and the grantee may reapply at a later date.
